Simple and quick fix. Thank you!
Was this situation absolutely unavoidable?
How the Rithmic certificates stopped working? They expired or have been revoked?
Additionally I find error handling in IRT very cryptic. It's second occasion when I get "Error Code 11 listTradeRoutes" and this error is totally misleading.
First time it was when broker has disabled my additional trading account. Why can't you show "Your account was disabled"?
Second time problem with SSL certificates. Why you can't show "Problem connecting Rithmic - invalid SSL certificate"?
The expired certificate issue was avoidable. Regrettably, it was a mistake on our part. We responded as quickly as possible with a solution. Steps have been taken to ensure this does not happen again. I agree with you that the error messages/symptoms that resulted were cryptic, the most commonly reported error was the Error 11 Trade Routes. These are not Linn Software messages, they are administrative error messages from the Rithmic system that Investor/RT places into its message log unmodified to aid in diagnosing any kind of error condition. The main toolbar in Investor/RT has an animated heartbeat icon at the right end that provides visual feedback when market data is flowing normally. There was no data flow and no heartbeat and the ensuring reports from many clients triggered our response.
I have absolutely nothing against your support. You are one of the best in that matter. Response was fast & accurate.
Please consider adding some more meaningful error messages. As a software developer I'm almost sure that you can detect condition when you have wrong SSL certificate and display error message indicating that problem
The folks at Rithmic have created a superb programming interface that they call the R | API++. This API abtracts much of the complexity of the underlying communications for developers. When an error occurs inside the Rithmic API, the API notifies Investor/RT with an indication of which connection had the error, the error code, and sometimes a textual message. At present there is no specific error code having to do with SSL certificates. Granted the messages we do receive can be cryptic. In cases where we can offer a more meaningful user-friendly message we do so, the rest of them go into our message log as-is. In some case, we have to rely on support from Rithmic if an unusual error code is encountered and my experience has always been that the support they provide is excellent.
Thanks for your feedback. I will pass your comments along to the Rithmic API staff.
Get an error message that states I do not have permission to save this file. Can you assist?
Replacing the file in question is required only if you running RT 13. The installers for RT 14 install the corrected file automatically so there is no need for any action on your part if you are running RT 14.
If you are running RT 13 then upgrading to RT 14 is the recommended solution anyway since RT 14 now supports connecting to Rithmic using the R Trader Pro gateway and other improvements. If you wish to remain on RT 13 nevertheless, then replacing the file in question in the Program Files (x86)/investrt/admin directory requires that you have administrative privileges. Most users have administrative privileges so only a confirmation is required when you drag and drop the file into the folder. If you need further assistance, open a support ticket. To open a support ticker in RT 13, choose Request Support from the Help menu.
