Clock showing current time in a chart pane

Hi,

Not sure where to put this "request" so here it is.

One thing I really miss from my former charting package is an indicator that shows the current time in a chart pane.

I have tried to replicate this in an annotation indicator box but it doesn't do what I intended.

Is there a way to display the current time (in hrs mins secs) inside any chart pane.

It would be great if a "CLOCK" token was added to the ANNOTATION indicator as then we could customise the clock's appearance.

Thanks for considering this.

RTX Indicator lsClock - Coming Soon

Moby,

Right now, your best option is probably something you've already tried...using the Annotation indicator with %TIME as the text.  See below.  However, that indicator will show you the time of the last tick that came in on the underlying charted symbol (which may be every second, but there may be a 10 second period with no trades in which case the time gets behind 10 seconds).  Give me a couple days to develop an lsClock RTX indicator.  Let me know if you have any suggestions/ideas.  I'll provide color and size options.  Drag and drop.  Analog and/or digital.  Possibly an option for what timezone it reflects.  Good suggestion.

Many thanks Chad in advance

Many thanks Chad in advance for the new RTX.

The only other idea/suggestion I have for it is a way to integrate an economic calendar.

Eg even something manual such as adding in a few key events for the day or getting them from somewhere like forexfactory or investing.com
The idea would be you choose the two or three events that are critical to you and the RTX Clock gives you a notification/warning a set number of minutes before the event so you stop trading and don't get blindsided.
The way those events could be added might be by typing, by pasting text or some kind of grabber from those two sites.
I think even a basic manual entry would be amazing to start off with.

Clock Alarm

Chad; I have used the alarms ( timed settings ) for years in IRT, and want to thank you very much for the clock addition, which I hope you can modify to add alarms to, which may address the mobelby question regarding news release events.
The clock addition will let us drop our Ninjatrader chart which many use because it has a bar timer feature in it.
Thanks for all the great RTX features.

Alarms

So what type of alarms would you be looking for specifically in Clock (or elsewhere)?

  • News Events (which would be pulled from a list of date/times with titles/labels.  I'm actually working on another RTX Indicator titled FlexDates which does just this pulling from either a local file or one on a server).
  • Alert when new bar forms.(and when session starts / stops)
  • Alert ever x minutes or seconds

or options for all of the above?

I started a new topic on Gathering Requirements for FlexDates Development

Calendar Indicator

I've made a lot of progress on the Clock indicator and should be able to make version 1.0 available Monday or Tuesday.  I've also begun work on a FlexDates indicator which should feed nicely into your economic calendar idea.  I would take a look also at the built-in indicator "Calendar".  It might not be exactly what you're looking for but does allow you to key in upcoming events with dates and get some level of notification of what's on the horizon: https://www.linnsoft.com/techind/calendar-indicator

But here is where I am currently on Clock indicator...

Thanks Chad.

Thanks Chad.
The Clock is much appreciated.
Graphically the only thing I'd change is having an option to get rid of the second hand completely including the dot/circle at the very end that I cannot remove. If one is already showing a digital clock that second hand is not needed.
