My goal is to combine my trade plan and my trade journal into a searchable document without spending my day typing.
My plan is to build it either in Excel or in a Data Base product.
I've tried exporting via FlexLevels but it seems to only export lines manually drawn and not ones generated by "IsSessionPrices RTX" or "Profiles" direcctly.
Is there a way to export this data?
Chuck,
Have you tried right-clicking on one of the Session Prices lines and choose "Export Data". You'll get a column for each of the available prices. If the prices are unchecked in Session Prices preferences, that column will still be there with zeros in it. Currently, the column titled which makes it difficult to determine which is which. I'll work on that. Let me know what format specifically you're looking for. Do you need this type of historical data for each price, or do you just want to export the current value for each of these prices, so maybe a single row in an excel file that gives the current value of each price in each column?
Wow, a reply so quickly.
First, I have to admit I didn't even know of the right click "export data".
After trying "export data" on a few items, I think I like "door number 3", but "door 2" would work too especially if it had titles.
Door1: Do you need this type of historical data for each price, or (A: no, not really)
Door 2: do you just want to export the current value for each of these prices, (A: that would be great, ideally with titles)
Door 3: so maybe a single row in an excel file that gives the current value of each price in each column? (A: This would be great but door 2 works too.)
I get the feeling one of my excuses for a lackluster Trade Plan / Journal is about to be eliminated. Thanks.
OK, try this.
In your chart bring up the Session Prices preferences and turn on "Save Current Values Into" a series of V# variables as seen below.
In this case, I have 6 prices checked and I'm starting at V#20 so it's storing those 6 prices in order in V#20 thru V#25. It also auto-titles those V#s as you can see if you go to File: Preferences: User Variables...
No, create a new quotepage. Remove all columns but the Ticker column (by just dragging the column headings and dropping off top of quotepage). Then right click on "Ticker" column heading and choose "Add Column" and add the columns V#20 thru V#26 (or whatever your series of V#s are). You can multi-select columns from this list using shift or ctrl-clicks. Once you've added those columns, drag and drop column headings to re-order, or resize as needed. You may want to uncheck the "Shoaw V# Number After Title" if you don't want to see the underlying V# in the quotepage column headings. Save the quotepage with an appropriate name. Now you can choose "File: Save: Save As Text" and you'll get a tab-delimited text file which can be opened up in Excel or wherever you need it. Will look like this...
You can then create a Schedule to Save Quotepages As Text as seen below that will export all open quotepages as text to the folder C:\Users\Chad\InvestorRT\admin (replace Chad with your Windows user name). And setup the schedule on a keyboard shortcut like Shift-F7 below.
One additional note, you will need to keep that Session Prices chart open to update the V# variables with current values. You don't have to keep it open all the time, but at least open just before exporting the data. You can actually add actions to your schedule to open the chart just before the export, and then close chart just after, if needed.
Thanks this is great stuff. I'll work on it over the weekend.
Does it include date info?
