Exporting a preset group definition

Hi,
i am using a lot buttons with the Add/Remove Preset Group or Show/hide Group of indicators.
It is really useful to manage your charts layout..
However, when i am exporting / importing a chart definition, the name of the group (gathering the indicator preset) included in the button definition is not exported.
And if i go to the Object manager, the export button remains "greyed" under the group tab so that i can t export separately a group definition there.
Any tricks on how to export a group definition ? (from one IRT DB to the other ??)
Thanks a lot
Eddy

Import/Export of Preset

Import/Export of Preset Groups (along with the preset definitions of the presets in the group), is not presently a feature of Investor/RT. Presets can be exported using the Object Manager. At the present time, the preset groups have to created manually. We will add this to the list for future enhancement, but it is not a priority for near term development.

We have recently enhanced the Chart Element Manager to facilitate rapid creation of preset groups. If you have a chart with many indicators in it, you can use the Element Manger to select two or more indicators from the list and then click Button Group. This will create a preset group from the list of selected indicators and add a button to the chart for adding/removing that list of indicators from the chart. Once the group is defined in this way, you can also create a button that does a Show/Hide on this group of indicators. Until import / export of group setups in supported, this is the easiest way to quickly create a preset group in Investor/RT.

Hi Bill,

Hi Bill,
thanks for the prompt and very clear feedback.
One last question. I am in fact merging 3 IRT Databases (A, B and C) into a single "NEW" one
Only Database A** does have group preset definition (ca 25 of them) - All individual presets (ca 200) have been exported together with the charts
Could i just may be directly copy the groups files (ie groups, groups.d01 and groups.d02) from user\InvestorRT_A\data_f to user\InvestorRT_NEW\data_f ?
Cheers
Eddy

(Note ** : in the older database B and C, i was still using buttons running schedule to add/remove groups of individual presets... and schedule can be exported..)

The groups files (groups.k01,

The groups files (groups.k01, groups.d01, and groups.d02) may be copied from one data_f to another. However, the group setups  contain the names of presets that are members of each group, so the presets themselves must exist (under the same names) on the target  data_f database for this to work. You can experiement of course. Make a backup of the target data_f, then move the three groups files into the data_f and test your various group buttons. If all is not well, you can always revert to the backup.
