The chart you shared works but I don't understand why. Your chart imported a configuration for the daily midpoint (session statistics ==> midpoint of range) that is identical to the configuration I tried to use but I get the error and PSA will not run. To confirm the error I created several more midpoint CI's via 1) the object manager 2) Add indicator box (charts==> add technical indicator) 3) and through the PSA preferences box, but I still get the error. I shared the chart and hope you can check it out when you have time. I am sure it is a simple oversight on my behalf but the issue is driving me nuts.
I'd like to be able to test the probabilities of price bouncing off of Yearly R2 levels for short trades.
This means that price would have to be tested from 10-15 years back at a minimum.
To be able to trade from these levels, it would also be beneficial to know if price breached R2 and by how much, therefore giving a better idea of how to size trades and place stops.
Duration of trade or length of move will also help get a better view of profit potential.
How can this be done within Investor RT? Eventually I would also like to test this on Yearly S2 for long trades.
First, you'll need 1-minute data as far back as you want to test. So if you want to test 10 years, you'll actually need 11 years of 1-minute data. But that is accessible with IQFEED or DTNMA. You'll just need to expand your Historical Data Retention settings for symbol in question and then perform a full download on chart (right-click on chart and Download Data > Full Download and then wait a few minutes for data to return). See...
Once you have the data, you can import this chart definition to see how yearly S2 and R2 are accessible from RTL using the PVPT token. For instance, Yearly S2 would be obtained as follows. Notice ONLY S2 is checked in the levels....and the periodicity within PVPT is "Time Per Bar: 1 Year".
The chart below shows the yearly S2 and R2 on a weekly chart (Time Per Bar : 1 Week) but the periodicity coudl be changed to daily, 30min, etc...
I'm having trouble adding more levels on the chart. Currently I have Yearly R2 and S2 that you added. When I try adding a weekly R2 or S2 through the chart, I get the custom indicator below in a line chart. The way I tried it was from the chart>add tech. indicator>custom indicator. Earlier I was able to take the original pivot point and save a weekly version.
How can I attach a screenshot? Im sure that would be easier to show.
It will depend on how you're adding it, but if you're choosing "Send To > Chart" then yes, it will by default add to a new pane. But it takes all of one second to drag/drop to the main pane, and it stays there after when closing/reopning chart. One time operation.
Let me know if this is what you're after: https://www.linnsoft.com/charts/midlinestudy-es

Can the pivot strategy analysis be used to automatically show the statistics and variables I mentioned above?
I'd like to eventually use the same setup for intraday levels which would be time consuming to manually calculate.
Thanks
PSA would probably be a pretty good fit for testing these levels, yes.

You can simply drag and drop that line from the lower pane up to the main pane. Let me know if that works.
That did work. Thank you. And I was able to disconnect the lines. Will that always happen when adding more levels or is there a way around it?
