Paint Candles (RTX)

The PaintCandles RTX Extension decorates candlesticks in a variety of ways. The user may choose to decorate all candles or just those candles that meet a specific condition determined by an RTL Signal . Decoration options include the width in pixels, the Position relative to the candle (in pixels offset from candle) and whether to draw inside or outside of the candle.  Up to 4 painting options are available in each instance of PaintCandles, one to decorate all candles and three options to decorate candles based on an RTL Signal being true for that candle (bar).

Paint Candles Prefs

  • Paint All - This decoration option, if checked, will paint all candles using the color, position, and width options specified.
  • Width - Width, in pixels, of the decoration.
  • Position - Each decoration may be drawn "Inside" the body of the candle, or "Outside" bordering the entire body and wick.  An offset, in pixels, specifies how many pixels outside or inside of the candle the decoration is to be painted.
  • Paint Signal - Up to 3 additional decoration options area available, each attached to it's own condition/signal and decoration options.
  • Refresh Period - This option will only be used for signals which involve tokens such as Zig Zag Oscillator for which past values can change based on future price movenent.  This refresh period dictates how may bars back will be calculated / refreshed each time the indicator is recalculated.

RTL - Investor/RT Language

RTL is the Investor/RT Language, a formula language for composing trading signals, custom indicators, and scans. RTL is an end user language, designed to be used by those with little or no programming skills. RTL is used to write a formula. A formula may be a true/false condition, e.g. CLOSE < MA, that determines whether some condition is true or not for each bar (a signal) or the last bar (a scan). A formula may compute an arithmetic result, called a custom indicator. For example: MA ( HIGH - CLOSE ) computes a moving average of how far an instrument closes from its high. As you can see, RTL is more expressive, simpler, and easier to use than other market data languagues.
