What is a Quotepage?
A Quotepage is a collection of symbols organized in an Excel like fashion with rows and columns. Each row contains a symbol and each column represents some piece of data about that symbol (i.e. Open, High, %Change, etc.). There are hundreds of possible columns that can be added and you can even create Custom Columns to display your own custom data from an RTL Object
System Quotepages vs. User Quotepages
System Quotepages start with a period while Quotepages created by a user do not. For example, go to File > Open > Quotepage, you'll see that Investor/RT opens the Object Manager with Quotepages selected as the Object. There you will see a list of Quotepages (some start with a period and others do not). System Quotepages are managed by Investor/RT to group symbols into some predefined groups such as .Stocks, .Futures, .Options, etc.
Create a New Quotepage
Here are three ways to create a new Quotepage:
- Go to File > New > Quotepage.
- Right click the Quotepage Icon in the Main toolbar.
- From the Object Manager (Alt-O to open it), select Quotepages on the left and press the New Button.
Adding Symbols to a Quotepage
Place your cursor inside of any Ticker column and press Enter to open a new row. Then type in your new symbol.
Deleting Symbols from a Quotepage
Right click any row and choose either Delete from Database (same as pressing the red trash can on the Quotepage toolbar) or Delete from Quotepage (same as pressing the green trash can on the Quotepage toolbar). Delete from Database removes the symbol from Investor/RT entirely. Delete from Quotepage removes the symbol from just this particular Quotepage.
Editing existing Symbols that may be invalid.
Place your cursor inside of any Ticker Column and edit the symbol. When you are finished, press Enter and Investor/RT will prompt you as to whether you want to Modify or Create a new symbol.
Pasting a list of symbols into a Quotepage
Suppose you have a plain text file with a list of symbols like this:
AAPL IBM ESM7 GOOG FB
Copy that list to your clipboard. Then place your cursor into any Ticker column and press Enter to open a new row. Then right click and choose Paste.
Manage Quotepages
Go to File > Open > Object Manager (Alt-O). There, you can view a list of all of your Quotepages from the Object Manager. Double click the Quotepage to open it or single click to select it and use the buttons on the Object Manager to perform any of the various actions.
